Our History
Sandringham Christian Family church began in the early 1950's out of an outreach to children in the Sandringham-Mt Roskill community. The church purchased a hall in O'Donnell Ave (now owned by the Fijian Assembly of God) and moved to the current premises in the early 1960's. Many of the church's Pastors have have gone on to be significant leaders in the growing New Zealand Assembly of God movement. The church was strong through the 1970's but declined slowly through the 1980's. The 1990's saw steady growth and the the present congregation at the beginning of the new millennium is vibrant and full of expectation for the years ahead.
Our Values
We are a family orientated church in that we desire to build a local church where people feel loved, accepted and are encouraged to be all that God desires them to be. We are on this planet at this time, in this place, for a purpose. That purpose can be discovered in a vital relationship with a living God.
We value the diversity that we enjoy as a fellowship. God is a God of variety in all His creation and we believe that our diversity in cultures, generations and circumstances enriches us and our families.
We believe that every believer in Christ can enjoy a deep personal relationship with the living God.
We value the Bible. It is inspired by God. Through its pages we come to know God, His ways and His purposes for our lives. We value preaching that is based on the Bible, preaching that rightly interprets and applies God's Word to our lives.
We seek to be Christ centered. Typically we celebrate communion each Sunday reflecting the central focus we give to Christ and His atoning work. It is through Christ's death on the cross that we gain access to the presence and power of God.
We value the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. He makes Jesus real to us, leading us in worship, cleansing and restoring our lives and empowering us to be agents of transformation in this world. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and are available to every believer.
